  • in case you're wondering-

  • So, just to state the obvious...

I've realized just how much I value talking to people in person, and just how horrible a blogger I am. Thus, I'm not going to be writing on here anymore in the near future. I'm not shutting down this blog, but just taking an "official" break, if you want to call it that.

So feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call if you want a life update. I will continue to read my subscriptions, and I look foward to what you all have to say in the future.

    Peace,

    ~Amy

  • Hello from Tennessee!

    Hey friends!

So I've really been a slacker about posting the past few months. Here's a quick update on what's been going on:

I arrived outside Nashville, TN last Friday (May 25th) after an approx. 10 hr. drive, and stayed with a friend in her home Friday & Saturday. On Sunday morning the other summer staffers and I headed down to Altamont, TN, to Camp Cumberland Pines for Mountain T.O.P training. It was a super-busy week for us, and I am thankful to have a break today and tomorrow!

This week we were split into our individual staffs for the summer, and my staff definitely rocks! There are 8 of us, (4 guys, 4 girls) all from different states, and so far we get along and work together really well. Everyone I've met on summer staff is amazing, and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of them better as the summer goes on!

I will have limited time on the internet, because each week we will either be busy with campers or busy planning the next camp week. So, I won't be posting on this blog much. I have set up another blog that's just for this summer's experience, and I will be updating it more often. So feel free to visit. Here's the address:

Here's my mailing address also. I would LOVE to recieve letters from you all!

  • Mountain T.O.P !!!!

I got a call yesterday- I'm in!!  (this was my mix of emotions yesterday)

I'm so stoked, guys. I mean, words cannot even describe! I get to spend 10 weeks in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee, and become part of a community that will be so encouraging! And on top of all that, I will get to serve people, get to know them and love on them, which is my passion in life.

So, for those of you that don't know. Mountain T.O.P (Tennessee Outreach Project) is a missions organization that serves the people of southern Tennessee. Youth group kids and their leaders come from all over the US for one week during the summer, and do home-repair projects for families who need it.

What I will be doing is leading a group of middle school/high school age kids (and their youth group leaders) during the week. Basically, this will entail getting them off to their service sites each morning, checking on their progress throughout the day, having devotions with them, and leading other camp activities in the evenings. It will give me a chance to get to know them, and hopefully help them grow spiritually. I will also get to know the families that we are serving and building things for throughout the summer, which will be great. I want to go into Social Work someday, and this will be such good experience, since what I'll be doing this summer is directly tied in to that sort of thing.

So yeah, there's still a little part of me that is nervous and doubts myself, but I just know this is the right thing for me. I just felt like I was being led to do this, and it's something I've wanted to do for a couple years now. It all worked out so smoothly, it's just amazing! God is so good guys. Seriously.

Keep me in your prayers that all the details from now until the time I go will work out. I still have quite a bit of fundraising and stuff like that to do, but God will provide, you know?

So yeah, I'm seriously excited...  EEEE!!!
